Steiner 10x50 Military/Marine Binoculars Review
These binoculars offer a clear, crisp image and they are reported to have an exceptional twilight performance.
With a 6.2° angle of view they offer a fairly wide field of view which is good when you're scanning the
horizon and don't want to miss your subject.
The only real problem we have with these binoculars is that, although other reviews state these are
waterproof, the Steiner website says they are "resistant to and guaranteed not to fog
or leak internally"...no indication they are waterproof. Why would you designate a pair of binoculars as
"Marine" and not make them waterproof? When you pay top dollar for a pair of binoculars that are used around water,
where you can easily get caught in the rain or there is a high chance of mildew, you need binoculars that
are definitely waterproof.

"The 10x50 is a great bino. Good optics with a decent field of view. A bit heavy to manpack around all day but
excellent from a base camp, vehicle or stationary lookout spot. I collect binos and these like all Steiners compare
well to other very expensive Euro optics. A good solid performer for anyone who doesn't need a fast center focus
like bird watchers do."
"This product is the only product I went to for use on the ocean."

"I find them to be waterproof (or at least highly water resistant), rugged, convenient and always dependable.
The only reason I don't give them a 5 star rating is that they tend to fog up (slightly) on the external eye piece
lenses during cold weather, particularly if I'm overheated from my outdoor activities."
"We like the optics of this pair of binoculars which offer a bright and well magnified image. Even viewing under
low light conditions is fine. Another good feature is the autofocus with which the user only needs to adjust the
eye diodes for all viewing."
"These are the finest field glasses I have ever looked through. The clarity and their ability to collect light
in low light conditions are unbelievable. The only, and I do mean only, drawback is their size. Just too big to
wear in the field or still hunting."
"Good optics, BUT - One reason I purchased such a high priced item was the expectation that a high price equals
quality! If moisture/water protection and value for your money are issues do not buy this binocular!"
"The sighting for each eye piece is easy. Wearing glasses I prefer to use them w/o my glasses but you can use
them w/ if needed. I have used them in low light as well as bright sun light and found them to have out performed
my expectations."

Conclusion
Since these binoculars are not designated as waterproof you need to be cautious when you're around groundwater
or there is the possibility of your getting caught in a good rainstorm. The optics are very good on these
binoculars but in our opinion you can probably get the same thing for less money.
