Canon 12x36 Image Stabilization II
Binoculars w/Case, Neck Strap & Batteries Review
These binoculars deliver high magnification, long eye relief, and wide-field
viewing. But that's only part of the story as the image stabilization technology used in these of binoculars
keeps the image from bouncing around and you get a clear, sharp image now matter how much your hands shake.
This is of immense benefit to just about anyone who's found it difficult to keep the binoculars steady and is one
of the key features of these binoculars. Using two standard AA batteries you get four hours of image
stabilization before you have to recharge. This should be more than enough time to offer you a stable image when
you're out in the evening looking at the stars.
The rubber skin on the binoculars let you grip them without fear of them
slipping and offers a low reflectance exterior to keep them from reflecting light and alerting wildlife. Those
who use them for bird watching or watching other wildlife find them to offer a clear and crisp view of their
subject and, once again, the image stabilization feature is a very important factor in these binoculars. The one
drawback for dedicated birders who like to get a close focus range of 8 to 10 feet is that these binoculars claim a
close focus distance of only 19.7 feet. But for some birders that factor is easily traded off for the image
stabilization technology that lets you keep the image rock steady.
Package includes the case, neck strap & batteries and offers great
viewing for the birder as well as the astronomer.

"As an experienced brider (bird watcher to some) I've owned some of the world's greatest optics, the type of
European "alpha-glass" that top tour leaders wear with pride. I bought the Canon 12x36 almost 2 years ago based
mostly on my respect for the Canon L lenses with internal stabilization that I use on a regular basis for bird
photography. All I can say is... Wow!. These light-weight, high powered lenses have become my favorites in the
field for wildlife observation, especially when viewing wild birds."
"I just do not know what to say. I really checked this one out. A lot of money for Binoculars I thought. It
better make a big difference. WOW. It DOES. You have to see it to believe it. The write ups are right. I am now
saving for the bigger ones. VERY WORTH the price. And mine came with a 3 year canon warranty. Not the one year it
says on Amazon."
"I do a lot of bird watching and am at age 71, where some unsteadiness in holding binoculars is present. I
bought these 12 x 36 IS II binoculars to help offset that difficulty. Purchase, shipping and receiving went very
smoothly. I was taken back by the bulk of these glasses, but soon had them in good working order. Instructions were
clear. Focusing is easily accomplished and the clarity is good, edge to edge. I did find that setting the spacing
for the eyepieces was quite different from regular binoculars, but practice gradually improved my ease of doing
that. You cannot easily change the spacing while holding the binoculars up to your eyes, so be aware of that
difference."

"With surprisingly compact design and low weight, these 12x36 IS II binoculars contain awesome power...The
second surprise is how remarkably steady objects appear..."
"Doublet field-flattener lenses also deliver beautiful, flat, distortion-free images, so you'll be surprised to
see how much power is compressed into the Canon 12x36's compact-but-high-precision optics..."

"Great binoculars. We live on a lake and are always checking out ships, birds, etc. These were a lot of money
but well worth the investment. "
"I purchased these for my husband because he likes to photograph water fowl and he loves the binoculars.
Shipping was timely and I am very pleased with the product. Good choice to purchase for yourself or a gift."

Conclusion
These are great binoculars for stargazing or bird watching but keep in mind they are
water-resistant not water proof. Many people get these two terms mixed up. No problem
if you are aware and take precautions but you do need to keep this in mind when outdoors.
